Hello, my name is Athena and I live with my sister Aphrodite. I'm very sweet, very curious, I like to play with my sister, I like to play with string toys, feathers and I LOVE to climb shelves and cat trees. I enjoy laying down in the sun and watching the birds. I'm a little shy, it takes time for me to warm up to new people, and I'm not a fan of other dogs and cats. I eat dry food and I have good litter box manners. Preferably, we are looking for a loving forever home! If you would like to meet me, please contact my foster mom. It would be her pleasure to assist you.

Athena is currently available for adoption through the Wake County Animal Center at 820 Beacon Lake Drive, Raleigh. The Center is open daily from 12 - 6 PM for meet and greets and adoptions. To inquire about an animal, please call 919 212 7387.

Dog Of The Month: August 2019: Yoshi

Meet Yoshi

ID NUMBER: #188307
AGE:
7 1/2 YRS OLD
BREED: AMERICAN STAFFORDSHIRE TERRIER
SEX: MALE
WEIGHT: 44 LBS
LOCATION: IN FOSTER

My name is Yoshi and I am an adult neutered male American Staffordshire Terrier mix. My foster mommy says that I am the best dog she has ever fostered. I am very quiet, I have wonderful manners, I'm housetrained, I walk perfect on the leash, I love to cuddle on the couch and I'm a low key fella. I'm a wonderful dog but I'm very shy and I take time to warm up to people. So to help me find a great home my foster mommy asked me to make a list of what I want in my new home. Number 1: I really need a home with another dog. I'm specifically looking for a home with a friendly, social, outgoing, non dominant neutered male dog to be friends with. I get along with everyone but I really want a bro to be pals with. Since I'm so timid and shy I pull my confidence from the dogs around me which is why I need a friend. I've been to day camp and playgroups at the shelter and have done well with all sized dogs big to extra small. Number 2: A low key home where I am an inside pet and not left alone outside. I would do best in a home without small kids because noise and fast movements can really scare me. Number 3: A patient loving person who will understand it takes me a bit to get settled and come out of my shell. Foster mommy has worked with me a lot and says that routines help me feel more secure and confident. Number 4: A fenced in yard so my new pal and me can play together. I love to run outside and roll in the grass but don't worry in less than 10 minutes I'll be patiently waiting at the back door to come in. I have Heartworms but they are totally treatable and Friends of Wake County Animal Center have generously donated $350 towards my treatment. I'm a quirky little fella but once you become my friend I'm very loving and sweet. If you think you might be the right home for me please contact my foster mommy at muttstuffnc@hotmail.com. She will be happy to talk with you and set up a time to meet me.

Yoshi is Heartworm Positive, but has a generous sponsorship of $350 towards treatment from us here at the Friends Of Wake County Animal Center. Once treated, Yoshi will live a long, healthy life. Along with the sponsorship, our treatment coordinator will help guide you through treatment each step of the way, if needed. Learn more about our Heal A Heart Program here.

BREED: LAB/TERRIER MIX
SEX: FEMALE
WEIGHT: 67 LBS
LOCATION: WAKE COUNTY ANIMAL CENTER

Hey there--I'm Teardrop. I know I drew you in with my gorgeous eyes and coloring, didn't I? It's true, I am a beautiful, three year old Lab/Terrier Mix. But, I have been told that I am also a very good girl. I walk perfectly on a leash, am treat motivated (I even know sit!), listen to corrections, and love to play with other male dogs here in playgroups. The staff and volunteers say I am one of their favorites--whatever that means. Honestly, I'm pretty low key. I like to chill and nap or go for a hike or walk--whatever my favorite person wants to do. I have been told I have this thing called Heartworms, but apparently, it's extremely easy to treat and the kind people from the Friends Of Wake County Animal Center have placed a $350 sponsorship on me towards treatment--don't let that deter you. So, won't you consider visiting me today and see how lovely, special I really am? Big hugs, Teardrop.

Cat Of The Month: July 2019: Casey

Meet Casey

ID NUMBER: #184903
AGE:
8
BREED: DOMESTIC MEDIUM HAIR
SEX: MALE
WEIGHT: 16 LB
LOCATION: IN FOSTER

Yes, I am the most interesting kitty in the world.I also have some fluff to go with my looks and I don't mean just my fur. I'm a handsome chunker. I'll need a home that watches what I eat and makes sure that I get my exercise. I do like to play, but let's be honest, I rather just be lazy with you on the couch while watching TV, cuddling in bed, or keeping your feet warm while you're on the computer. I do get along with other cats, as long as they are nice to me. I will need to be an inside cat only as I don't have claws on my front paws. Don't mistake my age as being "old"—I'm anything but and will make a great addition to your home. For more information, contact my foster mom at Tejanachick16@gmail.com.
